FAQs
Can I buy a full resolution CD of the session?
Yes, I offer digital image collections and individual images can be purchased with your portrait order. You receive a personal release with your images. Meaning you can do pretty much whatever you want to do with the images, except for copy the disk and hand it out to friends and family members. You can take your images to Walgreen’s, Costco, or Ritz to get them developed, make scrapbooks, etc.
Do you have a minimum order?
Yes, there is a $200 minimum portrait investment.
When should I book a wedding Photographer ?
There are many factors to consider in answer to this question. What month will you be getting married and is this during the summer months or a holiday period. Should this be the case then you will want to book at least 12 months in advance.
What about our engagement portraits?
Without a doubt most wedding photographers will either include a portrait session in any packages he or she offers or as an add-on option. This is a good way for both you and your photographer to work together prior to the big day. It will help build trust and confidence that your photographer will produce the outstanding pictures that you want. I think it’s an essential step to getting to know me and in return, getting to know you before the big day!
Can I get a discount for low season or weekday weddings?
As the business of weddings are still predominantly a weekend affair it means that dates are limited in the year. I receive the same requests for a single date many times over. I attend one wedding per day, so it limits the number of commissions that can be taken. Some photographers will offer a reduced rate for people getting married on weekdays or at certain months of the year. I feel that the effort involved and the precious time I take to deliver amazing wedding photographs is the same whatever the day or month. So my rates are applicable to any day or time throughout the year.
Someone I know has offered to do our wedding photography for $300 and give us the files.
There are photographers of all levels and experience and that means that there will be a broad range of prices for what looks like the same package. Some who cover weddings for such a low rate may not be able to produce the high quality pictures that you want. People who offer this service for such a low price may be either starting their trade or be part-time. Professionals will have built up years of experience and will have invested much in the correct equipment (and backup equipment) – all will have professional insurance to cover them in the event that something goes wrong.
Why does our photographer copyright the pictures at our wedding?
This is standard practice and is a form of legal protection. A photograph once taken automatically has the copyright afforded to it. Copyright is in force for a period of seventy years AFTER the photographer dies. Any use that is subject to reproduction of the photographs has to be agreed in writing with the photographer. Therefore, the photographer retains all rights the photographs even if you receive a CD of images. Should you envisage that this will be a problem then discuss it with your photographer.
Do you do weddings or other sessions like bridals and boudoir?
YES, YES, and YES! I offer engagement, bridal, trash the dress and boudoir sessions for all brides!
What is your education in Photography?
I started photography in high school. I went to college, took a few classes, but my degree is in marketing. I actually took a couple years of not shooting and then got back into it and I haven’t turned back! I started with a Rebel XT, joined some photography boards and Flickr and learned from reading books, websites and messages on boards. I”ve taken years to hone my skills, but you are always learning as a professional and I continue to do so.
What should I wear?
I will send you a clothing guide when you book. I suggest bringing at least three options to your session and I will help you pick the best outfits!
Do you have a studio?
No I don’t have a studio. That is not my style of photography. I am a lifestyle photographer who shoots 90% outside. I have a few locations that I love to shoot at, however I’m flexible and would love to explore new areas of the Valley you love. If you are looking for something more traditional, I suggest you try contacting other photographers that will fit your needs.
What size can I print the images?
They are high resolution images. However I suggest going through me for images larger than 11×14, because the quality of local printers, like Walgreen’s, is not good. I don’t want you to display horrible quality images in your home!
Photographers
I’m not looking for any more assistants or mentees. Unfortunately, I have all the helpers I need at the moment and don’t have the time that you deserve to mentor anyone else at this time. But thank you for the request in advance!
What’s in your jill-e?
I have a 40D, and looking to upgrade shortly to the 5D mark II.
50mm 1.4

24-70mm 2.8
70-200mm 2.8
100mm macro 2.8 NEW!
I usually rent additional lenses for specialized looks like the fish eye. I highly suggest renting prior to buying. It’s better to rent and experience for yourself than ask me =)
Why are your images so sharp?
I do the best to focus correctly when I’m shooting. Then I use the Magic Sharp from Kubota’s post actions.
