san antonio engagement photos | san antonio destination getaway

June 26th, 2010 , Posted in destination weddings, engagement

A few weeks ago I was asked by Denise and Eddie to take their engagement photos at La Villita in San Antonio. Right off the Riverwalk in San Antonio, it’s a little artist’s village with lots of color and beautiful surroundings. I love to travel for my clients for destination weddings or destination engagement sessions. I just ask for a travel fee, which is a flat fee. I try to make it less complicated for my clients! So if you are interested in traveling for your wedding to a destination, or for your engagement session, just ask and I’m game!

I stayed at the Emily Morgan Hotel, a boutique hotel, close to the Riverwalk area. I’ve never actually been to San Antonio, other than the airport. It was really nice. I went to the Alamo and walked around the Riverwalk. It was a bit hot though! I still haven’t gotten used to the humidity here. But I had a great time with Denise and Eddie. Engagement sessions are a great way to get to know my couples before the wedding, and also get them used to being in front of a camera.

I can’t wait for their wedding at the Inn at Chacalaca Bend! I went there a few weeks ago to preview the property, and it was amazing! I’m so excited for September! Thanks again Denise and Eddie for spending time with me in San Antonio!

austin wedding photographer | a downtown engagement

I had the amazing pleasure to photograph the engagement of Lyzette and George in Austin, Texas. I flew out for the day and it was well worth the travel time! We first met at Austin’s Zilker Park, where we found an awesome tucked away place in the hills of the Zilker Park.

Backtracking for a moment, I met Lyzette and George at last year’s Wedding Fair event in McAllen, TX. I will be there again this August, for all you Rio Grande Valley brides out there!

Lyzette had this great idea, before we had the session, to include large balloons in the her shoot. When the balloon man finally came, we had some fun! We found this awesome turquoise wall next to this restaurant! I love it when you just stumble on things while you are shooting. It makes things that more spontaneous and fun!

After hanging out in Zilker Park, we headed out to downtown Austin for some even more fun locations! We first headed to Big Top Candy Shop for some sweet photos…

Isn’t your mouth just watering….mmmmm taffy…..

Then we headed out to another awesome location, but first we got some amazing gold frames that Lyzette borrowed from her friend. Aren’t they so cool?

Then probably my favorite location of the shoot, Hey Cupcake! They have a couple locations throughout Texas, but this one is very cool because it’s a trailer! Haha this session was so full of amazing locations, Austin is such a cool town. I can’t wait to go back and just hang out.

We hung out on the back of the Hey Cupcake mobile for some more sweet photos!

Mmmm cupcakes…gosh this was a mouthwatering session!

Lyzette threatened…I mean warned George that she was going to put the cupcake in his face. She warned him from the beginning, so he should have seen it coming. But from his expression, I think he wasn’t ready!austin wedding photosaustin wedding photos

a scottdale engagement session | scottsdale wedding photographer

February 28th, 2010 , Posted in engagement

A few weekends ago I met up with my clients Natalie and Patrick at the Scottsdale Civic Plaza for their engagement photo session. They are getting married in May at the Ancala Country Club, one of my favorite wedding sites in Arizona. Partly because the ever fabulous Dawn, a Beverly Clark Certified Wedding Professional, is there to help brides keep calm on their wedding day by taking care of all the details! And she helps me stay calm by keeping me on my time line! So anyone looking for a wedding site with a built in wedding planner, Ancala Country Club is a great place to start!

So back to the fabulous, in their own right, Natalie and Patrick. They chose the Scottsdale Civic Plaza as their engagement session location, which I love. Because of the awesome LOVE statue there.

I love the awesome colors and textures at the Scottsdale Civic Plaza. It’s such a fresh and colorful place!scottdale engagement photos

A little about Natalie that I think is awesome…she goes to graduate school at ASU studying something that is way beyond my comprehension! Basically, she’s waaay smarter than me…and she’s gorgeous to boot! Who said you can’t have both brains and beauty? I think Patrick couldn’t agree more!scottdale engagement photos

Although I think Patrick has something special going on for him too….how am I so lucky to have the best and most gorgeous couple’s in Arizona?

desert engagement | phoenix engagement photographer

January 8th, 2010 , Posted in engagement, weddings

I had one of my favorite, or my favorite so far, engagement session a few weeks ago. Sorry, with the Holidays, I’m a bit behind on editing! I’m so happy to finally be posting these images! I had an amazing session with Jill and Matt at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix. Since they are moving shortly to Colorado, they wanted to make sure their engagement photos truly represented the Phoenix desert, and I thought no better place was the Desert Botanical Gardens. Jill and Matt were so fun to work with! Jill is obsessed with a wedding blogsite called The Brides Cafe. You’ve seen me featured there before, so I was excited that she found me on there. Anyway, being the good bride-to-be, she wanted her engagement photos to be unique, like the one’s on The Brides Cafe. So she found a prop from Anthropologie that she wanted to use. It’s a fabric ampersand, how awesome is that! I thought….wow she totally is my kind of bride!

So part of the session revolved around a prop…but most of it revolved around love. Fresh and unique love. The kind of love that makes me so happy I do what I do. Being able to capture it is so special, and I am so appreciative that I am able to do so. Thank you Jill and Matt for letting me capture this brief moment in your life. A moment, a feeling, that I hope last’s forever.
